WITH YOU I CAN
I was born in one small village in Kenyan, lost a mother at the age of two and a father thereafter at the age of twelve. I learned a long time the virtues of hard work, independence and dreaming big, not letting your circumstance thwart your progress. I have come a long way from walking to school bear feet, to becoming an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and at this moment by shoes fit pretty well. But then one day I realized, I needed something more in life, something found beyond the pain of going through life in silence, the pain of having a story to tell and not knowing who to tell, the burden of having so much to express and not knowing how to express it and get people’s attention, get people to listen. I realized that I needed an audience, someone to listen to what I have to say, but first of all, I needed someone to teach and guide me on how to say what I have in a civil, organized and professional manner, so I started searching.
Voices of Our future just fit the bill pretty well. Being a worldwide interactive community newswire, where women have the opportunity to speak for themselves to the world and connect to solve global problems is all that I am looking for and believe I have found. A forum where I can be trained into what I aspire to be and be able to tell stories of what is happening in my society, be able to unite with women who can assist me impact on my society and my world at large in a positive way, touch the world in a special way. A forum where women issues have an audience and find interested listeners who take the next step to actually moot up solutions to make the world a better place to live in.
Working as a professional in an organization that talks about big profits every day, and having to go back to your village and encounter the reality where women still lack basic needs, it doesn’t matter how high your professional standing is, you cannot live every day reconciling the two worlds the two realities that exist and be comfortable with the difference in your silence. Sometimes my professional world can be a lonely place to be in, because when the year ends, and I thank God for the His Grace and Blessings, I look back and wonder, apart from the profits I have helped build, what have I done about humanity, if there was an award, would I be considered. And it is a sad day when you realize you did nothing, you said nothing to make someone else’s life better, someone who really needed you, especially when you have been seeing the major storms the person has had to pass through and you did nothing about it, you said nothing, whilst you had the means.
